COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This workshop aims to cater to individuals interested in drawing geometric patterns without prior knowledge or experience in this field.
Participants will be introduced to various materials, including compasses, different types of paper, and paints. They will learn the fundamentals of using these tools through basic drawing exercises.
Furthermore, this workshop serves as an initial exploration of geometric patterns, allowing students to develop the necessary skills to continue their artistic journey by creating aesthetically pleasing drawings.
Materials List:
- Compass
- Ruler (30 cm)
- Mechanical pencil (0.3 mm and 0.5 mm)
- Pencil (H and 4B)
- Correction tape/masking tape
- Transfer Paper
- Soft eraser
- Colored pencil and felt-tip pen
ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENT:
Students are expected to allocate 10 hours per week to attend live online classes, practice, and prepare their lessons for submission.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR::
Students are expected to allocate 10 hours per week to attend live online classes, practice, and prepare their lessons for submission. Esra Aslan embarked on her journey in the field of traditional arts six years ago when she began taking Tezhip lessons at İsmek. Subsequently, she served as a curator for two exhibitions alongside her teacher and five classmates. These exhibitions took place in Sarajevo and Skopje.
Continuing her education at Küçükçekmece Traditional Arts Center, she completed the two-year Design and Pattern course under the guidance of her esteemed teacher.
During this time, she also completed a seven-month online Geometric Patterns in Islamic Architecture course facilitated by Dr. Serap Ekizler Sönmez and the Eyüp Municipality. Following the completion of this course, Esra curated the first Geometric Patterns exhibition in Turkey, showcasing a total of 142 artworks by 35 individuals who had completed the course within the past four years, once again under the guidance of Dr. Serap Ekizler Sönmez.
For the past two years, she has been studying Miniature. Her exceptional miniature design earned her the first prize in the 3rd Miniature Competition organized by Üsküdar Municipality. She continues her studies in Geometry with Dr. Serap Ekizler Sönmez while furthering her knowledge and skills in Miniature painting under the mentorship of her esteemed teacher.
