ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Serap Ekizler Sönmez

Our instructor, Dr. Serap Ekizler Sönmez, is widely recognized for her expertise in Islamic geometric patterns. With extensive experience visiting notable Islamic heritage sites worldwide, Dr. Sönmez brings a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience to our workshop.

She completed her Ph.D. on the history of science, Islamic art, architecture, and geometric patterns, making her a trusted authority in the field. Dr. Sönmez has taught courses at prestigious institutions like the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts (London) and has authored numerous academic papers and books on the subject. She currently serves as the Program Director for Islamic Geometric Patterns at the Deen Arts Foundation and works at FSMV University-KURAM (Foundation Cultural Heritage Conservation Application and Research Center).

► Day 1: 19th April 2024 – Arrival in Khiva at 07:45 AM
• Arrive in Khiva and transfer to your hotel
